Being 100% On Top Of Diabetes

Fifteen-year-old Ben is a musician, athlete, and has type 1 diabetes. Diagnosed at the age of 6, Ben admits that he didn’t want to accept that he had diabetes. Until the age of 12 his parents helped him to manage his diabetes. But like any other teen, Ben wanted his independence, but as he gained independence for his diabetes, he also lacked responsibility of keeping it under control.

Watch as he and his parents discuss the difficult road they traveled to get Ben to accept his diabetes and show it who’s boss. Ben has realized that by not managing his diabetes it not only affected him, but also his band and teammates who want him to be there 100%.
