Diabetes management is tough. There’s so much that goes into it, from testing to dosing, that it can really take a toll. But it’s also so important to maintaining your health and avoiding a variety of serious complications.
For most people, management includes some combination of medication or insulin injections. Your health care team has probably also given you advice on how to make lifestyle choices that will benefit your condition. This might include stress management, keeping a consistent sleep schedule, maintaining a healthy, well balanced diet, and incorporating exercise into your daily routine.
Not only can exercise assist in weight control, it also does wonders for your blood glucose levels, as long as you do so safely. Plus, there are so many benefits to exercise (as discussed, here) that even if it’s difficult to fit into your day, it makes sense to make it a priority.
What’s better is that even a little bit of exercise is better than nothing! All it takes is 30 minutes a day. You can even break that 30 minutes into chunks of 10 minutes or more if you struggle to find a 30 minute block of time.
