Childhood Diabetes: A Family Effort

Sebastian is a 9-year-old who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 12 months old. Without any history of diabetes in either of their families, Sebastian’s parents were surprised with the diagnosis. His parents have had to reach out and “train” other people who are around Sebastian in order to make sure they are well informed of the disease and how to manage certain things that may happen. They admire Sebastian for his positive attitude and how he handles dealing with his disease. Sebastian’s parents and brother all view diabetes as a disease that the whole family has, and they manage it together.

Watch as Sebastian, and his parents, describe their experience with diabetes, and how they come together as a family.
