Type 1 Dad Raises Money for Diabetes After His Daughter’s Diagnosis

According to this segment by WCAX, Slam Diabetes’ fifth annual Vermont summer classic wiffle ball tournament raised a record $80,000 dollars in 2015. That’s nearly double what the event raised the year before!

One participant, Liam O’Farrell, owner of Growler Garage, a craft beer filling establishment, was one of the team sponsors. O’Farrell has struggled with Type 1 diabetes since he was 11 years old, and his daughter, Maggie, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just a few weeks prior to the event. Liam saw the tournament as an excellent opportunity, and seized the opportunity to get involved. And did he ever!? The small business owner’s team raised $10,000!

Liam has never suffered any complications of his disease and wants other Type 1 diabetes patients to know that it is possible to succeed at managing diabetes. Check out his inspiring words of wisdom!
