We’ve all been there. We know that living with diabetes comes with a lot of frustrating side effects… it takes a lot of effort to manage, it’s expensive, and it never takes a day off. In fact, it never sleeps. Which means, for some, they never sleep.
If you’ve ever struggled to sleep, you know it can be an incredibly frustrating experience. Lying in bed, feeling physically tired, but unable to actually fall asleep.
Maybe your blood sugar is too high. Maybe it’s too low. Maybe you’ve just drifted off, and something changes, forcing you to wake up, get out of bed, and address the issue. Regardless, you’re just lying there, wide awake.
What’s arguably worse is the next morning. You don’t feel rested, and going about your day is a struggle. And taking the right steps to properly manage your diabetes is the last thing you feel like doing.
I mean, who really wants to exercise when they’re exhausted?
That all being said, you’re not alone. Not only do other diabetics have the same struggles, they share many of the same worries. While everyone’s experience with diabetes is unique, we think it helps to know you’re not the only one facing these issues.
In the video below, Ginger, who has type 1 diabetes, shares with us her steps to falling asleep!
