Jerry Lansdowne was once a songwriter for Johnny Cash, and now writes his own music. The song was written in honor of the memory of his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. “I’m Not Me Anymore” tell the story of Alzheimer’s disease through that of the sufferer, painfully touching upon the reality of the disease—the memory loss, the withering of relationships. It is a haunting song, but also a beautiful song.
