Do You Have an Endocrinologist on Your Diabetes Health Team?Matthew M. Sullivan
Having diabetes comes with a lot of responsibility. Managing your blood glucose level takes consistent effort. You have to maintain healthy, well balanced diet, and you have to get consistent exercise.
Additionally, there are things to consider that a lot of people who are new to the condition wouldn’t necessarily think of. For instance, did you know that sleep can play a big role in your blood glucose? What about stress?
On top of paying close attention to your numbers on a daily basis, It’s also imperative that you have regular check-ups and tests from your team of diabetes health professionals.
One of the most important members of your team is your endocrinologist — that’s because insulin is produced in an endocrine gland in the pancreas, and endocrine specialists are experts at helping people with diabetes minimize any complications that may occur. According to the National Library of Medicine, you should visit your health professionals every three to six months.
