Halloween Doesn’t Have to Mean Sugar

Halloween shouldn’t be a dreaded holiday for any diabetic because it doesn’t have to be all about the sugar! Type 1 Kerri was diagnosed right around Halloween so she knows what it’s like to have sweet temptations during this sugar-filled holiday. However, her and her parents found great alternatives to turn Halloween into something more than just the candy.

In the video below, Kerri shares the story of her first Halloween after being diagnosed and the many many things her parents did to allow her to have fun with Halloween without going cuckoo for candy. Our favorite is when her older brother offered to buy her candy from her! What a win-win situation for these siblings!

Watch as she gives us a few ideas on making Halloween more about the costumes and trading candy for alternative treats your kids will still love!
