Welcome to Our New Health and Fitness Series!

We all know exercise is important. We’ve been told our entire lives that it’s one of the most essential elements of a healthy lifestyle, and we’ve been made aware (most likely on numerous occasions) of how crucial it is to diabetes management.

But it can also be really difficult. Difficult to begin for the first time, to pick it back up, to maintain it. Many of us lead busy lives that seem too full as they are, leaving little to no room for incorporating yet another time consuming activity into our weekly routine.

I know first-hand how difficult it can feel. I too am often persuaded by the allure of the snooze button the morning after a night of promising myself I’d wake up early and exercise before work. When the alarm goes off, I typically find myself in immediate bargain mode: ‘You can sleep for 10 more minutes if you get the dry-cleaning after work instead of before like you’d planned.’ 10 minutes later that alarm goes off again, and I find myself back in bargain mode.

This often goes on for so long that I’ve whittled away at so much of my morning routine that I’ve not only made it impossible to exercise, but now I’m actually running late and feeling guilty– promising myself that I’ll hit the gym after work. But, and you might be able to relate here, after work I’m exhausted and have to pick up the dry-cleaning, and have had the last 8-10 hours to think of a whole new set of reasons why I should just put it off until the next morning, when I will approach working out with a whole new resolve.

But then it’s Tuesday, and isn’t it better to just start on a Monday?

So, I get it. But, and I know I sound like a broken record here, making that time is one of the most important things we can do for our health. The myriad benefits (more on that later) extend beyond the physical and can literally help make us happier people.

We want to help. We know everyone is different– from physical limitations to time limitations, and everyone is operating at a different skill level.
