You have almost certainly heard that exercise is important a million times. If you have diabetes, you’ve probably heard it more than most, and probably in conjunction with the fact that it’s an essential part of a good diabetes management plan. But why? Why is it so important to regularly work physical activity into your day?
Well, there are A LOT of reasons. Reasons that extend far beyond just looking good in a bathing suit– because what does that mean, anyway? In my opinion, fitness should be about doing something great for your body and mind– and that doesn’t have to be mean training for a marathon (unless you want it to). It’s as simple as making small changes that allow you to sneak in at least 150 minutes of exercise a week. That number might seem high, but really, it amounts to 30 minutes 5 days a week. And if you can’t reserve 30 minutes at a time, you can even break that 30 minutes down into chunks of 10 minutes or more!
Your personal fitness goals should be just that: personal. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, gain muscle, tone, or just have more energy, feel more relaxed, and get a natural boost in happiness, it’s all up to you!
