NBA Star Ray Allen has taken measures into his own hands and headed straight to Capitol Hill to lobby against congress’ decision to cut diabetes funding. The U.S. Government plans to make a few budget cuts from the Special Diabetes Program, that helps fund type 1 diabetes research.

Watch as Allen and his type 1 son Walker are interviewed by Washington Post’s Brook Silva-Braga about the importance for type 1 diabetes research funding. Despite his NBA star status, Allen says he’s still a dad, and wants to make sure congress understands what kids and parents deal with every single day with this disease and the need to find a cure.
