It’s all too familiar that humans are quick to judge, so when Paula Deen was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, the overall tone and common thought the Diabetes Hands Foundation had heard from many was a lot of blaming and shaming. Many implied that it was no one’s fault but Paula’s, for cooking-up butter and deep-fried filled southern cooking. But the Diabetes Hands Foundation thinks otherwise.
Watch as Manny and Emily from The Diabetes Hands Foundation explain how these negative thoughts cause the stigma type 2 diabetics deal with each day. We shouldn’t judge Paula, by her coming out about her diagnosis she should be commended. It’s people like Paula who advocate on behalf of other type 2’s in our community!
