There are a lot of myths about what it means to have diabetes, and many of them revolve around food. There are myths that suggest people with diabetes can’t have sugar. These myths are often spurred by a lack of information, or too much misinformation. There are others that a little more nefarious in nature– people trying to make a quick buck pedaling “miracle cures” and “diabetes-busting diets.”
But the truth is, most doctors don’t recommend people with diabetes follow a diet that’s all that different from the well-balanced diet recommended to everyone. Get lots of vegetables, fruits, lean protein, healthy fats, and whole grains.
But what about sweets? Well, just like with everyone, people with diabetes can typically indulge in a sweet treat, as long as they exercise moderation.
Well, if you have a sweet tooth, the recipe in the video below just made that indulgence a little easier, and a lot less likely to wreak havoc on your blood glucose levels. At The Diabetes Site, we love a good diabetes-friendly spin on a classic, and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint.
This recipe for egg custard, presented by Tova at Diabetic Survival Kit, is super yummy, sugar free, and low-carb!
