If you have diabetes, you’ve most likely been faced with some pretty ridiculous misconceptions regarding what the condition is like. From remarks about what you can and cannot eat, to what a person with diabetes looks like, to wondering if you have the “bad kind” of diabetes.
In short, you’ve probably heard a whole range of incorrect ideas about what the disease is and how it affects your life. Sometimes these are silly and mostly well-intended, but sometimes they’re downright hurtful.
We feel it’s extremely important that you know you are not alone. And while your experience with diabetes is unique to you as an individual, the idea of people misunderstanding what it means, and what you’re going through, is a fairly universal thing encountered by people suffering from diabetes.
