I love southern food. And, for me, the more “comfort,” the better. Unfortunately, it seems like “comfort” is sometimes synonymous with “carbohydrates.”
Traditional recipes for classics like fried chicken and mashed potatoes are, sadly, usually loaded with carbs, calories, carbs, and sodium. None of which are particularly healthy and aren’t doing your waistline any favors. And for most people with diabetes, those foods will send your glucose levels through the roof.
So, does that mean we have to avoid these delicious foods altogether?
Instead, we look for healthy substitutes! And the hunt ends here. Because dLife’s Chef Franklin Becker has some awesome alternatives to some traditional southern comfort food.
