6 Thanksgiving Traditions That Don’t Involve The Turkey
Thanksgiving: one of the few days a year when gluttony is not only accepted, but celebrated. Turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie! Why wouldn’t we spend the whole day eating? Well, we’ve got 6 reasons. Read on for some of our favorite ways to enjoy the holiday, besides eating. (Though, we love that too!)
1. Arts and Crafts
Who doesn’t remember making hand turkeys as a kid? Spend the morning exploring your creative side with the kiddos while the Thanksgiving Day Parade plays in the background! Added bonus: The finished product will make great place cards at the dinner table.
2. Host a Turkey Bowl
What better way to enjoy the last days of fall with your loved ones than a little friendly competition!?
3.Play a Game
Games are fun for the whole family and a great opportunity for everyone to gather together in the same place. Whether it’s a board game or charades, it will surely be a great way to keep a large group engaged with one another.
4. Put on a Play
Help the kids in your family dress up and tell the story of the first Thanksgiving. Better yet, let them come up with their own idea in the theme of the holiday: giving thanks!

6. Give Thanks
The best way we know to spend the last Thursday of November is by giving thanks! Lean into the spirit of the holiday and allow each person at your festivities a moment to share what they’re thankful for this year.
