Turmeric Reduces Incidence of Type 2
That delectable yellow spice in curry, turmeric, contains a component called curcumin that has been shown to reduce the occurrence of Type 2 in people with prediabetes.
Dr. Somlak Chuengsamarn and his colleagues at a Thai university conducted the study, which was published in the journal Diabetes Care on July 6, 2012.
“A nine-month curcumin intervention of a prediabetes population significantly lowered the number of prediabetic individuals who eventually developed type 2 diabetes mellitus,” Dr. Chuengsamarn said.
Not only that, but curcumin also improved the function of beta cells, the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, with only minor side effects.
So how about some curry for dinner tonight?
