Type 2 Diabetes Is A Growing Epidemic In Teens

Rachel Sherby’s family has been in the bike business for years, but not only does she work on bikes, she rides them too, to help manage her diabetes. In August of 2005 she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, she was only 17-years-old.

Watch as health professionals talk about the rise of Type 2 diabetics in the younger generation and how it’s become a growing epidemic. The growth has shown that 1 in 3 children born in 2000 will develop Type 2 in their lifetime. We need to raise awareness of becoming healthier and building communities that are walkable and have access to food at a reasonable price. Type 2 diabetes is preventable or can be managed, it’s all up to us!
